Shanghai Intellectual Property Joint Committee was founded in 2004 and consists of all the major administrative authorities in Shanghai Municipality relating to IPR administration, with 25 formal member units and 8 other participating members in total. The General Office of the Joint Committee is in SIPA. Its major functions: 1. Coordinating all the relevant administrative & law enforcement authorities in Shanghai for IPR protection. 2. Arranging the Shanghai Municipal IPR developing plan, regulations & policies. 3. Organizing synchronous IPR law enforcement actions in Shanghai Municipal. 4. Promoting communication & cooperation with domestic and foreign IPR department & organizations. In the protection of intellectual property , Shanghai IPR Joint Committee took the responsibilities of combining the different forces of intellectual property administrative departments and legal enforcement departments, etc and strengthening the macro management and overall coordination by organizing united campaigns for the legal enforcement of intellectual property , stepping up the strike on illegal intellectual property behaviors, maintaining the economic order of the intellectual property market and conducting supervision on the achievements of legal enforcement. Publicity and education on intellectual property was also strengthened and the status of intellectual property was published in order to enhance the intellectual property awareness of the whole society and to promote the sound operation of intellectual property strategies by enterprises. In recent years, the Shanghai IPR Joint Committee has been playing a major role in the protection of intellectual property by organizing the special campaigns for intellectual property protection launched by the State Council , implementing the Program for the Intellectual Property Protection Campaigns issued by the General Office of the State Council, organizing Intellectual Property Publicity Week activities and holding the briefing conference on the status of Shanghai’s intellectual property protection joined by the representatives from foreign consulates, foreign chambers of commerce and foreign-funded enterprises in Shanghai, etc. |
